Gun Dog Training
Dankar Kennels can provide all aspects of versatile gun dog training from bird and gun introduction for puppies, basic obedience, trained retrieve, or advanced water work. Training to prepare your dog for NAVHDA or AKC testing is available as well. Dan and Kara are experienced test handlers and can run your dog in NAVHDA or AKC events for you.
Training programs are custom designed for each dog to meet the owner's performance goals. We recognize dogs as individuals and employ training methods best suited to each dog's aptitude for learning. Owners are encouraged to participate in the training process. Training for owners on handling their dog and its newly acquired skills is provided along with techniques to maintain the dogs training.
In-house training is provided for a limited number of dogs. This is done to ensure that each dog receives the time and training it deserves, and you as an owner expect.
Dogs are housed in kennels with covered outside runs and heated indoor runs for the dogs comfort and security. Kennel runs are kept clean and sanitized regularly. Training dogs are fed Purina Pro Plan Performance dog food. Indoor heated areas allow training to continue in the winter and during inclement weather. Training takes place on our property or numerous field and water sites to which we have access.
Dankar Kennels 2011 monthly training fee is $550.00. Birds used in training and any veterinary expenses are in addition to the monthly training fee. Travel expenses and an additional fee may be charged to handle your dog in an AKC or NAVHDA event.
Owners are required to provide proof of current vaccinations including Bordetella for in-house training dogs.
