SandHill's Hunter's Edge, UT-II

| Edge was purchased from Mike Kindler at Sandhill's Kennels as a started
dog. Although physically capable of running field trials, Mike felt
Edge's natural hunting range and cooperative nature in the field would
be better suited to a venue such as NAVHDA or NSTRA. Mike could see
Edge's potential and wanted to place Edge where he would get more time
and training. Mike made the comment that Edge is the type of dog that
should be first out of the dog trailer. When we witnessed Edge in the
field, there was no doubting what Mike said was true. Edge's unbridled
desire, intensity, and style had us sold. He is truly a high desire
fun dog that exists for birds 24/7. As driven as he is, Edge is a
cooperative dog that handles well for anyone in the field. Edge has an
outstanding nose, a ton of pointing instinct, standing on his birds
with a high 12 o'clock tail. He displays the same intensity and style
when backing other dogs on point. In the grouse woods, Edge
frequently tracks running birds several hundred yards before pointing
them or points birds in trees. Others who have hunted over Edge swear
that he can smell where a bird was yesterday. Hunting or training,
Edge is always ready to go and consistently puts out 100% effort.
Edge's desire and stamina allows him to hunt effectively for hours on
end as a guide dog in the toughest upland cover. He is an enthusiastic
retriever on land and has developed a love for the water and retrieving
ducks.

In June of 2007, Edge was NAVHDA Utility tested at the North Central Wisconsin Chapter spring test. Edge had a maximum score going into the last event of the day, the steady by the blind/retrieve of duck sequence. It was here that Edge's desire caused him to stumble. Edge showed his eagerness by whining and barking at the blind in anticipation of the duck retrieve. All said, Edge earned a Utility Prize II scoring 195 points. Edge is a very personable dog with a mild temperament. He gets along well with other dogs and is always respectful of his brace mate. His relaxed attitude is a pleasure in the house. We expect great things from Edge as his training and NAVHDA testing continues in the future.
